Observations

This outstanding Oloroso VORS (Very Old Rare Sherry) owes its character and complexity to the fact that the 28 butt solera was slowly built up from the best Oloroso butts in the bodega by the original cellar master. He came from Covadonga, Asturias, and made the best Oloroso he could for the Marqués de Real Tesoro who particularly enjoyed Oloroso. On the cellar master?s death, the Marqués named the solera Covadonga in his honour. The wine is only released very rarely at an average age of over 40 years. It has an old mahogany colour and is intensely perfumed with nutty balsamic notes. On the palate it is full bodied, extremely elegant and persistent.
