Observations

The Soleras of our Very Old Rare Sherries were established towards the end of the 19th Century. Each individually registered bottle of the "Valdespino V.O.R.S. Collection" represents over 100 years of careful selection by generations of expert oenologists. The result is a Sherry unique in character, intensity and complexity. The Palomino grapes were grown in the chalky soils of our vineyards in the famous Pago Carrascal. The wine has aged oxidatively from the start and ends up in a tiny and very old solera of only eight butts, meaning availability is inevitably limited. On bottling the wine has an average age of over 50 years, much older than the 30 year requirement for VORS certification by the Sherry Council of 30 years. This wine is a rare gem.
